Shyla Marlin was born in Fairbanks, Alaska, and currently lives in Los Angeles, where she works regularly as an actor, writer, and theater producer.
Shyla grew up in a home with a multi-ethnic perspective. She credits its influence with the significant diversity evident in the film and stage roles she has accepted. Her writing and service activities display similar sensitivities and variety.
Shyla cherishes her work with the Leadership Council of Native Voices at the Autry, the leading Native American theatre company in the US.
In her writing and producing, Shyla has created collaborative ensemble productions such as On the Brink (for Theatre 68), and Still Standing (for Theatre Asylum).
Meanwhile, Shyla continues to develop other ensemble pieces, most typically bringing focus to the underlying universality often evident in diverse points of view.
